RAG system over Swiss law
Description #
The capstone project I designed for Building AI/ML Applications, part of ETH’s CAS in Data and Machine Learning.
Participants build a retrieval-augmented generation system over publicly accessible Swiss legislation and court decisions: ingesting and chunking the corpus, embedding it into a vector store, retrieving relevant passages for a natural-language question, and grounding an LLM’s answer in those passages with citations back to the source documents.
The brief was chosen because the domain punishes hallucination — a legal answer without a correct citation is worse than no answer — which makes retrieval quality, not prompt wording, the thing participants have to reason about.
